1912 Ottawa Senators Inaugural Game

Saturday, May 18th, 1912. 6,500 spectators assemble at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to watch the inaugural game of the Ottawa Baseball Club. They are the first professional team in the city since the Ottawa Wanderers played for a little more than half a season in 1898.

Ottawa Baseball History: Ottawa Wanderers

In 1898, the Eastern League was in its sixth season and housed eight teams. One of those, the Rochester Patriots were having difficulties with attendance and money. On July 12th, with the season already underway, the Rochester Patriots ceased operations. They were reborn on the 13th as the Ottawa Wanderers.
